If you've got the time on your hands...

... I'd encourage you to mosey on over to the Johns Hopkins University SAIS website.

The SAIS website has consistently been one of my favourite ports of call for over a year now, on the basis that they have taken the unusual (for an academic institution) and extremely useful step of producing audio or video recordings of the various guest lectures and panel discussions to which SAIS plays host and archiving them on their homepage. This represents a fabulous resource and an example that other academic centres of excellence would do well to emulate (though I don't think I know of another university - sorry King's, I feel like such a traitor saying this... - that plays host to such high calibre speakers on quite so regular a basis).

Sadly, the archive of lectures and debates is not so extensive as once it was (fascinating lectures and Q&A session by the likes of Tom Friedman, SAIS Strategic Studies Prof Eliot Cohen [providing almost instantaneous reaction to September 11th] and former British ambassador Sir Christopher Meyer and an entertaining and provocative panel discussion with James Schlesinger and David Owen have sadly vanished into the ether - along with an array of other gems), but if you hurry you can still catch lectures with the likes of Lord (George) Robertson, Robert Rubin, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Senator Joe Biden, Colin Powell and Zalmay Khalilzad.

I urge anyone with an hour or two to kill to take advantage of this resource. You won't regret it. You have my cast iron guarantee.*
